In the previous course, you learned how crypto works. You learned about blockchains, wallets, keys, and transactions. You learned what crypto is supposed to do and where it sometimes falls short. That knowledge is genuinely valuable. But there is a gap between understanding how crypto works and knowing how to use it safely. This course is about closing that gap.
Security in crypto is not a complicated subject when it is explained clearly. But it is a serious one. In traditional banking, if something goes wrong, there are usually people and processes that can help you recover. In crypto, the rules are different. You are more in control of your own money than you would be with a bank. That control is one of the things that makes crypto interesting. But it also means that protecting what you have is your responsibility, and knowing how to do that well matters more than almost anything else.
This course covers everything you need to set up your crypto life safely, understand what threats exist, recognise attempts to trick or manipulate you, and know exactly what to do if something goes wrong. It is written to be calm, practical, and honest. There is no reason to be frightened of these topics. There is every reason to take them seriously.
Some of what you read here will be directly practical, specific steps you can take, things to check, habits to build. When you come across those, it is worth pausing and actually doing them rather than just reading past them. Security is not something that protects you simply because you know about it. It protects you because you act on what you know.
Take your time with this course. If a chapter covers something that applies to your own setup right now, use it as an opportunity to review and improve that setup. The goal is not to finish reading quickly. The goal is to finish reading and feel genuinely confident that your crypto is as safe as you can reasonably make it.
